Halliday All Revved Up For Monaco Porsche Supercup

Halliday All Revved Up For Monaco Porsche Supercup Race.

New Zealand racing driver Matt Halliday feels he is well prepared and fully revved up as he heads into Round 4 of the 2009 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup to be held at the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix meeting this coming weekend. The 16 lap race will be run on the historic 3.34 kilometre circuit around the tortuous streets of the Mediterranean principality and like all classes appearing will be the Porsche Supercup's 'Jewel in the Crown' race of the season.

After a satisfying opening three races in Bahrain and Spain, the Californian based Kiwi driver is 4th overall on points and has a healthy points lead in the Rookie of the Year classification. Another consideration is that he and team-mate Richard Westbook (UK) are also aiming to consolidate Federsand-Jetsteam Motorsport's overall lead in the Team's Championship.

Halliday admits he's been looking forward to this particular race as Monaco is one of his favourite tracks having made a stunning single-seater appearance there in 2003 when he qualified on pole position and led all but the final lap. Having established a 15 second lead he was robbed of victory when his gearbox electronics failed causing him to coast to the finish in 2nd place:

"I can't wait to get back on track at my favourite racing venue ! We had a great run here six years ago and really dominated the event so we will be pushing hard for a similar performance although this place is not to be underestimated. It's a very compact and high pressure weekend but I go there with some confidence as part of the Ferdersand-Jetstream Team" he said from Monaco earlier this week.
