Media Release 6 June 2009

Four Players Share $1 Million Lotto First Division Prize

Four Lotto players will be enjoying a winter bonus thanks to a $250,000 share of Lotto's First Division in tonight's draw, says NZ Lotteries Chief Executive Todd McLeay.

The winning tickets were sold at Highpoint Temptations Lotto in North Shore City, Paper Plus & Toyworld Te Awamutu in Te Awamutu, New World Wanganui in Wanganui and Johnsonville Lotto in Wellington.

"This $250,000 bonus is sure to heat up the first weekend of winter for our winners," says Mr McLeay.

Lotto Powerball has jackpotted this week, and will be worth an estimated $5 million in next Saturday's draw.

A Strike Four prize of $290,171 was also won tonight by a player who purchased their ticket from Cardz Mags n Lotto Ellerslie in Auckland.

Tonight's other big winner was retired Te Atatu couple, Frances and Ronald Ironside, who spun and won 'His and Hers' cars on Lotto's Winning Wheel.

All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto's Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet.

Tonight's Winning Wheel ticket was sold at Dennis Bookshop in Westport. The serial number is 377-22728717-20xx.

"Anyone who bought a ticket at these retailers should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it as soon as possible at any NZ Lotteries' outlet," Mr McLeay says.
