Bring Back Brighton
PRESS RELEASE
FRIDAY 12th JUNE 2009
Bring Back
Brighton
he Design and Arts College of New Zealand (D&A) will be holding an exhibition with a difference on Wednesday 17th June. ‘Bring Back Brighton’ will showcase graduating third year Architecture and Technology students work.
New Brighton Beach re-development has been a
vast topic of discussion by many property developers though
the conditions have held many of these concepts back. D&A
students were given a brief to redesign the foreshore of New
Brighton.
Students were instructed to research the current urban situation and development proposals in the region, and re-develop the land whilst taking into account the many variables of the area. Students’ designs were to be suitable for the new, urban identity of New Brighton and propose an architectural solution to a long standing problem. Students have been working on the project since returning from their internship in November last year.
