Excellent times ahead
Hello Folks,
The next few days are just FULL of excellent times.
TONIGHT The 2nd of July we have
Sledge Hammer Of Sound
The last ever night!
Primal Psychedelic lush sound-scapes to organic live visuals by an Artist from Chile named Pablo.
The visuals motivate the music which are
unpredictable and stunning to watch.
The music
which accompanies -almost as unpredictable as the visuals,
is an interesting combination of instruments.
3 Strings each running their own mad effects creating a symphony. A saxophone and synthesizer player creating textures, melodies and chords. A guitar interacting and surfing through the psychedelic colors. A drummer always playing to the deep primal pulse of his own heart.
This is the last show this band will play! (FREE)
On FRIDAY the 3RD we have THE LITTLE VICES with THE NOVELIST and THE COLD SHIVERS ($5)
SATURDAY the 4TH is a BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA with FLICK (down from auckland for karaoke and beatboxing madness), ALPHABETHEAD, THE POSTURES and MONDO TRASHO ($5)
SUNDAY the 5TH is more LIVE JAZZ with the HAPPY SYNCOPATORS
TUESDAY the 7TH IS BUG EYES, THE JULIAN TAYLOR RESIDENCY (FREE!)
ON WEDNESDAY the 8TH we have SKYSCRAPER down from AKL they are a 3 piece lo-fi alt blues act
CHEESE ON TOASTS Andrew Tidball had this to say about their EP:
SKYSCRAPER - I Bide My Time (Arcade
Recordings)
Y'see that tall guy over there, yeah, that
guy, that really nice and polite guy. Did you know he's a
creative genius with a voice halfway between warm honey and
wet cement channelling Nick Cave? Yep. Serious. This is his
band; Emlyn on drums (but's left for overseas now), Jack on
bass and Phil (formerly of MeatBix and currently in Benka
Borodovsky Boredello Band) on guitar; recorded with gear
mostly borrowed by Rohan from the Wine Cellar and released
on Rohan's new record label Arcade Recordings. I feel remiss
that I had consistently failed to check them out live and
now hear that they only have a handful of shows left in
Auckland before that tall guy (Stan Woodhouse) leaves for
Melbourne. I hate it when i find my new favorite band and
they are already going away! At least I have this EP and a
couple of shows to go to. You should join me. Seriously.
AT

guests

sobriety at home!!
