Auckland Photographer Scoops Australian Awards
Auckland Photographer Scoops Australian Photographic Awards
6 July 2009
Auckland photographer Lisa Crandall has been recognised as one of the best in Australasia after her work stood out from more than 2000 stunning images submitted to the Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPAs).
All four of Lisa’s entries won awards, with two gaining silver awards and the other two, silver with distinction.
Lisa runs her portrait and wedding photography business, ImageMe, in Northcote Point. About half of her portrait sessions take place in her fully-equipped studio, the other half are taken out on location, often making use of the North Shore’s beautiful beaches.
Her portfolio of winning images had themes of passion, loss of a loved one, body image pressures on young women, and the magic of childhood. The common thread was emotion. ‘I’m an emotional person, and there’s no doubt that my images reflect that’ says Lisa.
Now in their 33rd year, the Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards are a time-honoured platform for the continual development and promotion of professional photography. Professional photographers from Australia and New Zealand compete for a number of industry awards by submitting four images, which are judged by a panel of their peers. The Canon AIPP APPA attracts thousands of entries. Each year award winning images are published in an Awards Book.
