Gisborne Lotto Player Takes Out Lotto First Division

A Lotto player from Gisborne has just won $1 million after taking out Lotto's top First Division prize, says NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive Todd McLeay.

The winning ticket was sold at Blockbuster Gisborne.

Lotto Powerball has jackpotted this week, and will be worth an estimated $6.5 million in next Saturday's draw. Strike Four also wasn't won tonight, so jackpots to $400,000 for next week's draw.

Tonight's other big winner was Westport woman Susan Hodgson, who spun and won $300,000 on Lotto's Winning Wheel. Susan was joined at the draw by her husband Alan. The couple moved from Australia to Westport in 2002 to retire.

All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto's Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet.

Tonight's Winning Wheel ticket was sold at Take Note Paeroa. The serial number is 412-48336642-20XX.

"Anyone who bought a ticket at these retailers should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it as soon as possible at any NZ Lotteries' outlet."

"Tonight we are also celebrating the start of Lotto's Hot 100 promotion. All players who purchase a Lotto Triple Dip between Sunday 12 July and Saturday 25 July 2009 are in with a chance to win one of 100 extra winter prizes," Mr McLeay says.
