Evening Cello Recital by Mok-hyun Gibson-Lane

Sunday 16 August 7.30 p.m.

With Catherine McKay (Piano) & Vesa-Matti Leppanen (Violin)

Mok-hyun Gibson-Lane plays full-time with the Berlin Staatskapelle (The orchestra of the Berlin State Opera), directed by Daniel Barenboim. She is the cellist in the Stabrawa ensemble Berlin led by concert master of the Berlin Philharmonic, Daniel Stabrawa. She studied cello under Lynn Harrell for three years at Rice University, Houston, Texas, before moving to Germany in October 2006.

Vesa-Matti Leppanen is the Concert Master of the New Zealand Symphany Orchestra.

Catherine McKay is a well known New Zealand pianist based in Wellington.

The Evening Recital includes:

Sonata for Solo Cello by George Crumb (3 movements)

Sonata n.3 in G Major, G.5 by Luigi Boccherini (3 movements)

PASSACAGLIA Duo for Violin and Cello after Handel's. Suite no.7 in G minor for Harpsichord by Johann Halvorsen

Variation for Piano and Violoncello on the Theme: "Bei Mannern, Welche Liebe Fuhlen" from Mozart's Opera Magic Flute by Ludwig van Beethoven                                                                                                       

Introduction and Polonaise Brillante, op. 8 by Frederic Chopin
