Be part of
the action when Wellington’s best Theatresports players
take on live radio!
Watch the hilarity that others only get to listen to as The Improvisors take their own brand of critically acclaimed humour to the airwaves.
Last year The Improvisors tried something new - a collaboration with a radio station to create a show especially for radio. Improv FM was the result. In front of a live studio audience a cast of six performers work hand-in-hand with a musician and a live sound effects engineer to create a show especially designed for radio. The success of the show has lead to a second commission which will commence recording at Circa in September.
"When we did the first season we were unsure how
Improv FM would work for the theatre audience",
said Improvisors' Artistic Director and Improv FM
performer Greg Ellis. "But it worked fantastically. There
was a great rapport between the performers, the production
team and the audience, it was really casual and we used lots
of audience feedback to determine what was working and
re-jig it if needed."
The scenes improvised
during the show feature sound effects introduced by a
technician improvising alongside the cast to add an extra
dimension to proceedings. And as the initial recording and
mixing are done in the theatre in front of the audience it's
a great way to catch the slowly dying art of the live radio
broadcast.
Don’t miss this unique comedy event running for a strictly limited season!
