Callum Arnold: Divergence
Callum Arnold: Divergence
Callum Arnold’s
new exhibition Divergence will open at Suite on Friday, 5
September.
Callum, a highly-regarded Christchurch-based painter has shown at Suite twice before and has been one of the galleries ‘artists to watch’ since opening in 2007.
His work challenges the traditional portrayal of our landscape as static. They are reminiscent of journeys, the blur of landscapes shown through a windscreen. His paintings go beyond the purely realistic by overlapping and layering multiple images that create complex landscapes.
Suite owner and director, David Alsop calls Arnold, “a landscape man of the 21st century.”
Since giving up his teaching post at Lincoln High School, Arnold has painted full-time. His work is sought after by a number of influential art collectors, including senior artists.
Suite will exhibit Arnold’s recent paintings of the South Island, continuing the layered, memory-like landscapes that Arnold is known for.
Callum Arnold’s work will be on show at Suite, 69 Owen Street, Newtown Wellington from Wednesday 2 September 2008.
