Get loud and proud for Loud Shirt Day

$1 reserve for unique loud shirts

Seven unique shirts are up for grabs on auction site TradeMe this week, including signed shirts from US rock legend Alice Cooper and Flight of the Conchords’ comedian Rhys Darby.

Alice Cooper – described by Rolling Stone’s album guide as the world’s most beloved heavy metal entertainer – is showing his softer side by donating a signed t-shirt to The Hearing House and Southern Cochlear Implant Paediatric Programme – two charities that aim to make deaf and hearing-impaired children listen and speak like their hearing peers. They are behind Loud Shirt Day, an annual fundraiser on September 18 to help deaf and hearing-impaired Kiwi kids. Alice Cooper’s shirt will be up for auction on TradeMe before his Auckland concert on Friday

And if you prefer to see the funny side of life, comedian Rhys Darby – who made a pro bono ad for Loud Shirt Day – has signed four of the shirts seen in the ad and has offered them up for auction. The four shirts features various designs, including birds, outer space, safari animals, and the deep sea.

Plus there are two shirts from Cheryl West’s westie wardrobe – as played by Robyn Malcolm in TV3’s award-winning series Outrageous Fortune. There are two shirts up for grabs on TradeMe; a gold and black Keith Matheson shirt worn by Cheryl West in the infamous series four catfight with Sheree. The Rhys Darby and Outrageous Fortune shirts will be on sale on TradeMe for a week from Tuesday September 1.
