Gift to Samoa from the people of New Zealand

News Release
For Immediate Release – 8 October 2009

Gift to Samoa from the people of New Zealand

New Zealand’s online giving website Givealittle.co.nz has teamed up with Otis Frizzell to complete an artwork to capture the generosity and response of New Zealanders following the recent Samoa Tsunami.

Working from the Wellington Foyer of Te Papa Tongarewa (Museum of New Zealand), from Monday 12 to Friday 16 October, Givealittle are inviting the public to come along and support Otis as he builds this special commemorative artwork. On completion, the artwork will be gifted to the people of Samoa, with limited edition prints available.

Since the tsunami last Wednesday, online donors have raised over $100,000 by giving online at www.givealittle.co.nz/tsunami.

Otis will be incorporating comments and messages of support for the people of Samoa left on the website as they make their donation to appeal. The artwork will incorporate the unique New Zealand graffiti style that Otis is known for.
Nathalie Hofsteede, founder of Givealittle said of the artwork “the response from the New Zealand public and the business community has been so touching. We wanted a way to capture the very personal and heartfelt comments donors continue to post to the appeal on Givealittle”.

Givealittle continues to accept donations to the NZ Red Cross Samoa Tsunami Relief Fund www.givealittle.co.nz/tsunami with 100% of funds going direct to the New Zealand Red Cross appeal.
