RAY WINSTONE and TEMUERA MORRISON star in TRACKER, now shooting in New Zealand

Shooting starts next week on TRACKER, a manhunt thriller starring Ray Winstone (The Departed, Edge of Darkness, Nil by Mouth) and Temuera Morrison (Once Were Warriors, Star Wars II & III) in Auckland, New Zealand. In mid-November, the shoot moves to spectacular scenic and mountain locations near the South Island resort Queenstown until completion of principal photography in early December.

Set in 1903, TRACKER is a tense action-thriller in which Arjan (Winstone), a guerrilla survivor of the South African Boer War, lands in colonial New Zealand and is promised a bounty to capture Kereama (Morrison), a Maori seafarer accused of killing a British soldier. What should be a simple job for Arjan, a master tracker, turns into a gripping and dangerous game of cat and mouse as Kereama repeatedly escapes and is recaptured, all the while insisting on his innocence. As each gains and loses the upper hand, they gradually get to know and respect each other. In an emotional and high-risk showdown, their tenuous bond is tested in the face of a British posse led by Major Carlyle (Gareth Reeves).

TRACKER is a UK/New Zealand co-production by Eden Films and T.H.E. Film in association with Phoenix Wiley & Liberty Films. Investors include the UK Film Council, the New Zealand Film Commission, NZ On Air and financing provided by Natixis Coficine. The director is Ian Sharp, whose acclaimed television work includes Robin of Sherwood and Tess of the D’Urbervilles and who was action director for Goldeneye and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The script is by the late Nicolas van Pallandt, the first of his feature film scripts to be produced. Producers are David Burns and Trevor Haysom and executive producers are Stephanie Pettigrew, Sue Cook, Gareth Wiley and Richard Fletcher. Director of photography is Harvey Harrison, production designer Rick Kofoed, editor Sean Barton, sound Matthew Gough, music David Burns and post-production by Molinare, London. International sales are handled by Independent Film Company and it has been pre-sold to Square One for Germany and Transmission Films for Australasia.
