Vector wishes everyone a safe and Merry Christmas
As part of our summer public safety campaign, we are providing several tips to help ensure our customers stay safe this Christmas when decorating their homes and putting up their Christmas lights.
• Carefully inspect each electrical decoration. Cracked or frayed sockets, loose or bare wires and loose connections may cause a serious shock or start a fire
• Don't staple or nail through light strings or electrical/extension cords
• Don't overload extension cords or allow them to run through water on the Ground
• Replace bulbs with ones of the same voltage and wattage. The wrong bulbs could cause overheating and start a fire. Always switch off and unplug light strings before replacing bulbs
• Before using any light strings or other electrical products outdoors, make sure the product is marked "for outdoor use”
• Don't use electrical ornaments or light strings on artificial trees with metallic leaves or branch coverings. This could create an electrical shock.
• Turn off all electrical light strings and decorations before leaving home or going to bed
• Whether artificial or freshly cut, a tree should be kept a safe distance from all sources of heat.
