KONO Mussels Get Spicy With New Thai Flavour

Kono Mussels Get Spicy With New Thai Flavour

The new KONO Mussel flavour has gone international…..and a little spicy! Thai flavour is the latest in the KONO gourmet marinated range, and will be released nationally this week - just in time for summer and Christmas!

The light, aromatic flavours of Thai cuisine are extremely popular with New Zealanders, and taste even better when paired with the deliciously convenient Kiwi super (sea) food, KONO Greenshell Mussels.

And just like all good Thai meals, KONO Thai flavoured mussels are a balancing act of flavours - spicy, mild, sweet and salty.

“The mussels have a tropical flavour and a gentle heat that leaves a lingering sweet taste in the mouth. The main flavours coming through are coconut, lemongrass and chilli,” says KONO Marketing Manager John Grant. “Feedback has been incredibly positive from those who have already sampled them.”

Greenshell mussels are perfect at this time of year for BBQs, outdoor dining or entertaining. And for minimal effort they look, and taste impressive served with other fresh ingredients for quick, healthy meals in minutes, he says.
“The Thai mussels add an exotic flavour to any meal, or they can simply be eaten and enjoyed straight from the pottle!”

With the introduction of the new Thai flavour, KONO has also given its packaging a more colourful look – for both the marinated and frozen pre-seasoned halfshell mussels.

Says John Grant: “Not only is the packaging more attractive, it’s now easier for customers to identify the different flavours on-shelf.”
