New Book Will Stop Dog Owners From Going Barking Mad

TAURANGA, Monday 21 December 2009: Dog owners who are fed up with their barking, howling, jumping, pulling-on-the-lead, won’t-come-when-it’s-called dog can now help save their own sanity.

A new dog training ‘bible’, written by Tauranga dog expert Wendy Graydon, is perfect for all dog owners who “wish their dog would do as it is asked, just this once”!

The book is called How to Train Your Barking, Howling, Jumping Up, Pulling on the Lead & Won’t Come When it’s Called Dog. It offers basic advice and simple
techniques to help people change their own behaviour first – and consequently that of their dog.

“Dog training is simple, and as soon as you complicate it you are heading for trouble,” Graydon says. “Whatever your dog learns at home it will take out there into the big wide world.”

“Dogs are not vindictive creatures. They do not sit at home all day working out how to do some damage to your home or your belongings because you had the audacity to leave them behind.

So when you come home and discover Fido has pulled all the washing off the line you might consider changing your wash day to when you are at home and can do some training around this issue.”

Graydon uses her sharp wit and humour to show dog owners how to take control of troublesome situations such as dogs pulling on their leads, barking at everything and tearing your home to shreds.

Hilarious cartoon illustrations are also used throughout the book, making it an easy and enjoyable read as well as conveying some serious messages.
Key points which are covered in the book include how to dish out food, rewards and consequences, and effective human to canine communication.
