95bFM Nominees POPSTRANGERS to play Big Day Out
95bFM Nominees POPSTRANGERS to play the Big Day Out 2010!
The Popstrangers were 95bFM's finalist in the nationwide Big Day Out Band Demo Competition. A well-established bFM band, the Popstrangers have made regular appearances on the 95bFM Top Ten and played in our 2009 New Zealand Music Month Fancy New Band Showcase at the Kings Arms.
From November 13th - 30th, our listeners reviewed the demos submitted by unsigned bands on 95bFM.com and voted on over 70 of them - running the gamut from alt-folk to electro-grunge-rock. 95bFM's music director selected the Top 5 demos, which we played on bFM Breakfast with Mikey Havoc. After much deliberation, Popstrangers were chosen as the 95bFM winner.
As the 95bFM finalist, Popstrangers won tickets to the Big Day Out and went on to compete head-to-head with the other national nominees. The Powers that Be at the BDO agreed with us; Popstrangers were chosen as the winner of the Big Day Out Demo Competition and will be playing at Mt. Smart on January 15th!
Congratulations to the band, and thanks to all who entered!
The Big Day Out 2010: Friday Jan 15th @ Mount Smart Stadium. Tickets on sale from Ticketmaster.co.nz.
