Transfield Services supports new safety jackets

Transfield Services Limited 4 February 2010 – embargoed until 10am

Transfield Services supports new school road patrol safety Jackets

Transfield Services announced today it is supporting NZ Police in the introduction of new safety jackets to make children on school road patrols more visible.

The new bright orange safety jackets will be mandatory for the 27,000 children on school road patrols and traffic warden duties nationwide.

Transfield Services’ Executive Director New Zealand, Mr Kevin McKenna, said today: “In busy traffic, these safety jackets will assist road users across the country to easily identify children on School Traffic Safety Teams.”

“Safety is paramount in all the sectors in which Transfield Services works. Helping the Police by supporting the introduction of these new jackets was the perfect opportunity for us to give something back to the community.”

The new safety jacket is made of lightweight breathable and waterproof/windproof material which conforms to NZ and Australian safety standards. It is more visible in profile than the previous safety vests that it replaces.

The jackets will be distributed to 1,040 schools operating nearly 2,000 school patrol and traffic warden crossings throughout New Zealand at the beginning of term 1 of the 2010 school year in February.
