Meredith
Axelrod delights audiences far and wide with her renditions
of historic American popular songs from the 1890s through
the 1930s.
Genres include ragtime, jug-band, blues, pop.
jazz, and ballad. She learns these tunes directly from the
people who performed them when they were in fashion - that
is, off original 78 records. Learning the tunes from the
records or off the sheet music as opposed to learning them
from other modern-day performers brings a rare influence to
Axelrod's style that seems very unusual, very
old-fashioned.
