Alice In Wonderland With Skillwise
Media Release
The SkillWise
Drama Group is very pleased to announce its latest
production, Alice through the Looking Glass.
After several productions in the last few years,
including New Zealand Goes to War (2008), this
keen group of mixed ability actors returns to the stage to
present its own version of a classic story.
Through the Looking Glass is Alice’s second major adventure, as written by Lewis Carroll, following her journey to Wonderland. It’s a complex, sometimes hilarious and sometimes dark journey, in which Alice wonders about her own identity, reality and dependence on others.
Themes of dreaming, games, fantastical creatures coming to life, and Alice’s own attempts to make sense of the “back to front” Looking Glass World have appealed to all the actors. Alice delights in choosing the right word for the moment – and often she struggles hard to find it. This delight and difficulty also appealed to the actors. Language, song, movement and dance have all been used in developing the way the group tells the story.
Through the Looking Glass will run for a limited season at The Southern Ballet Theatre, The Arts Centre, Worcester St, with performances on:
Friday 26th
March at 2.00pm
Saturday 27th March at
7.00pm
Sunday 28th March at 2.00pm
Tickets are $10 and available through The Court Theatre booking office, phone 03 963 0870.
