Chop & Change - Charity FundShaver

MEDIA RELEASE
---
17 March 2010
Chop & Change - Charity FundShaver
cancer patient still dancing

Daphne Seyb is a 25 year old member of the Wellington Hip Hop dance crew Seek and has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Daphne was diagnosed only a few months ago and recently started Chemotherapy treatment. Her trademark long raven hair has already been cut shorter in a transitioning stage as she prepares to lose it all.

Instead of waiting for her hair to fall out during Chemotherapy Daphne has decided to shave her head and take charge. She is using the concert as a celebration of the support she has received from her friends, family and community, as well as taking the opportunity to show her support for other young people living with cancer.

Daphne is a positive and energetic young woman who even during her own cancer experience continues to think of others.

Daphne is organising and performing in the “Chop & Change” fundraising concert this Saturday 20th March at Elim Church, TeAro (22 Tennyson Street, Wellington) at 7:30pm. The Fundshaver “Chop & Change” line up is featuring Seek, Beatrootz, Emerge, Legacy, Infinite Dance Crew, Authentic & More! The evening will be topped off with a “chop” as Daphne and her friends shave their heads.

Tickets: Adults $10 & Students/Youth Under 12yr $5 (kids under 5yrs free).
All donations and ticket proceeds go to CanTeen Wellington.

What is CanTeen:
CanTeen is the New Zealand organisation supporting young people aged 13-24 living with cancer. CanTeen provides a range of national and regional peer support programmes for members, and advocates on members’ behalf for age specific cancer treatment and facilities proven to save lives.

CanTeen believes the best people to support young people living with cancer are their peers - those who ‘have been there done that’ or are going through similar experiences. CanTeen does not receive any government funding and relies on the support and generosity of local communities and businesses. For more information visit www.canteen.org.nz
