Late night art fix at City Gallery Wellington
Art and music after dark at Open City
Art and music come together after dark on Thursday 22 April, as City Gallery Wellington opens its doors for Open City – a fantastic way to wind down after work and see the Festival Season exhibitions in a more relaxed setting.
Artist Sarah Maxey, exhibiting in the Hirschfeld Gallery exhibition Further Convictions Pending, will start the evening with a talk at 6pm.
Meet up with friends over a drink at the bar, then explore the galleries as Jess Chambers plays from 7.30pm.
One of Wellington music’s rising stars, singer-songwriter Jess Chambers was the winner of the APRA Best NZ Country Song of 2009. Her debut album received critical acclaim, and she has recorded with many of Wellington’s finest. She has performed nationwide as well as opening shows for international names such as The Fleetfoxes (US), K.T. Tunstall (UK), Sarah Harmer (Canada) and New Zealand's Bic Runga.
All exhibitions will be open for the evening, including Séraphine Pick, Trans-Form: The Abstract Art of Milan Mrkusich, Janet Cardiff’s The Forty-Part Motet, Leilani Kake’s Tino Rangatira Tanga, and Further Convictions Pending.
