The return of The Parnell Waiters' Race
The return of The Parnell Waiters' Race
Part of
Parnell Road Market Day, Saturday May 8
Parnell Inc. is bringing back the Parnell Waiters'
Race! This used to be a very popular event some years back,
in what is now the last century, in fact. The friendly
rivalry, the athletic prowess, those precariously perched
glasses, the cute aprons - no wonder the crowds went
wild!
Our compeer, writer and ex-radio host, Justin Brown will turn the event into a lot of fun for spectators as contestants race along a 150m course on Parnell Road’s footpath from Denby Street, tray perched professionally on one hand, glasses threatening to tip over .. and into Heard Park.
The Parnell Waiters’ Race will run from 11am - 12 noon on Saturday, May 8th as part of Parnell Road Market Day. This first of two annual Parnell Market Days is always held on the day before Mother's Day, providing a perfect incentive for people to go out shopping for Mum, and looking for bargains!
The Parnell Waiters' Race celebrates Parnell's lively café, restaurant and bar scene, so be sure to stop for lunch while you’re here.
