Baby Pops

Baby Pops

A special concert for ages 2 – 6 years

Sunday 30 May 3pm Michael Fowler Centre

It’s “All Aboard!” for musical tots when Vector Wellington Orchestra takes them on a journey through the world of music. This year’s theme for Baby Pops is “trains and transport”, and there’s a wealth of classical favourites and well-loved children’s songs on the subject.

Audiences young and old will recognize such children’s classics as Flick the Fire Engine and Morningtown Ride. Presenter Janet Roddick will lead the singalongs and audience participation. This is one concert where the audience won’t have to sit still and listen!

Provided there’s enough action onstage and plenty to do, even the smallest toddlers can enjoy Baby Pops concerts, says creator Thomas Goss.

Baby Pops encourages a young audience to get involved, Goss says. “They’ll be singing along to Row, row, row your boat, conducting Prokofiev’s sleigh ride from Lieutenant Kije, doing the movements to The Wheels on the Bus, and joining in a big underwater adventure on the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine,” he says.

To make an unforgettable introduction to live music, everyone in the audience finishes the concert by taking the express route right through the middle of the orchestra!

“It’s an amazing opportunity for young children to see music being played close up, as they are walked or carried across the stage.

“Dress-ups are encouraged, so break out those Thomas the Tank Engine t-shirts!”
