Tuesday 11 May, 2010
One of Australia’s leading hairdressers will be in Dunedin next week working with local stylists to hone their skills. Craig Smith is the current Queensland Hairdresser of the Year, Finalist in the Men’s Hairdresser of the Year category and his highly acclaimed salon group FRUITION is the current Schwarzkopf Professional Colour Salon of the Year. With over 25 years experience he is renowned for translating catwalk inspired styles into commercial reality.
Smith will be holding sessions hosted by the Headquarters Hairdressing Group which encourage a ‘hands on’ approach to learning. Managing Director Jo Morshius says that it’s important to bring outside talent in to the city in order to keep hairdressers up to date with current trends.
“This city has a wealth of talented stylists, so it’s important to support their desire for knowledge”.
A self-confessed ‘trend junkie’, Smith says he feeds his need for inspiration and by emerging himself into the continually evolving world of fashion. “I’ll see something on the catwalk and immediately envisage how it could work in the salon. I see it as my professional responsibility to act as a translator between the world of high fashion and the everyday client.”
Smith says he continually surrounds himself with enthusiastic hairdressers who share his passion to be progressive and fashion forward hair professionals. He is committed to providing an environment that encourages growth and cultivates talent. Smith is also a Key International Educator for the Schwarzkopf Professional Creative Team
