New Zealand Heart Shine Relic Tour

Donated by His holiness The Dali Lama the relics will be displayed at the Owataha Marae, 58 Akoranga Drive, Northcote. The opening night will be 5pm the 8th May, and the relics will be on display for the following 2 days the 9th nd 10th May.

This is a free event and a rare opportunity as normally relics do not tour nor are they shjrine made publicly available. It is an inter faith non sectarian event, promoting loving kindnes and the intention of creatingfreedom and world peace.

Visitors will have the opportunity to be personally blessed by the relics of Bhudda. These relics are actually precious stone remains of the bodies of past holy beings such as historical Buddha, his disciples, commentators, and modrn day Lamas. They come here from Columbia where they were last displayed and this event was opened by the Columbian President.

Viewers can have the objects placed on their heads for a special blessing. In Berkeley, they were arranged in small lotus jars around a Buddha statue amid incense and candles on a table covered in saffron-colored cloth and skirted by a net of tiny white lights. A Buddhist master is "able to control the materials in their bodies and produce these objects because he's practiced compassion and wisdom and the teachings and meditated intensively," Tour Manager Victoria Ewart said.

Some of the historical Buddha relics, for example, came directly from the Dalai Lama. Several of the relics from Tibet were formerly housed in stupas, sacred Buddhist shrines, destroyed by the Chinese Communist invasion, said Ewart, who works at the Land of Medicine Buddha center in Santa Cruz. The Honorable Dali Lama said “ this project is really wonderful; and is the result of great courage and determination and from the depths of my heart I appreciate and applaud this wonderful project. You should realise this is a holy and sacred project”
