Gecko Press gets the Creative Gold Award
On 19 May, Gecko Press was awarded the 2010 Creative Gold Award at the annual Wellington Region Gold Awards for business.
The Creative Gold category, awarded in association with The Wellington Company, aims to 'raise the curtain on the standout performers in film, media and creative content industries'.
Past winners include Weta Workshop, Flight of the Conchords, Royal NZ Ballet, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

The other 2010 Creative Gold finalists were Five Finger Films, Mission Hall Creative, Rhian Sheehan and Taki Rua Productions.

Publisher Julia Marshall and assistant publisher Jane Arthur are 'utterly delighted and honoured to be included in such illustrious company'.

Another win: the Junior Fiction Children's Choice for 'Friends: Snake & Lizard' by Joy Cowley and Gavin Bishop

Gecko Press congratulates Joy Cowley and Gavin Bishop for their acclaimed book Friends: Snake and Lizard which was the most popular Junior Fiction finalist according to young readers around the country. It received the most votes for its category in the Children's Choice section of the NZ Post Children's Book Awards, awarded at the Auckland Town Hall on 19 May.

Gecko Press Also Celebrates its 5th Birthday

This year marks the fifth birthday of Gecko Press. The first Gecko Press book, the highly popular Donkeys, was published in July 2005. Since then, the company and its books have won many awards, including the 2008 Thorpe-Bowker NZ Publisher award and the 2008 NZ Post Children’s Book of the Year award.

Gecko Press books are currently available in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.
