Waxing Lyrical at City Gallery Wellington
Pacific Poetry,
Music and Comedy to celebrate Matariki
Visitors will be moving to a different beat on June 18 as City Gallery celebrates Matariki with Wax’n Lyrical, a night of Pacific poetry, music and comedy. With free entry, a cash bar, and some of Wellington’s best performers, this is guaranteed to be a night of inspiration, hilarity and relaxation.
This will also be the first opportunity for the public to see Cerisse Palalagi’s new exhibition Motunei in the Deane Gallery, and all other exhibitions will be open, including John Pule: Hauaga (Arrivals).
Have a drink at the bar, take in the exhibitions after dark and then settle in, as DJ Ayesha leads into a full evening’s entertainment.
A multi-talented group of performers will
be taking the stage, including Wellington legend Warren
Maxwell, rising star Bella Kalolo, poet and percussionist
Troy Hunt, rapper Juse 1 and comedian James
Nokise.
