West Wave swim school best in country
Henderson’s West Wave Aquatic Centre swim school is the best in the country.
The school won New Zealand Swim Coaches and Teachers Association Swim School of the Year Award 2010 in recognition of its continuing commitment to excellence.
“Swimming is a great form of exercise and West Wave Swim School provides an extremely important service to the families in our community, promoting water safety through swimming lessons to everyone regardless of their age, ethnicity or ability,” says Waitakere Acting Mayor Penny Hulse.
“The award is well deserved and reflects West Wave’s determined commitment to provide a consistent top quality, seven day-a-week service.”
The association looked at management and staffing structures, customer service processes and professional development of staff as well as ways the school is involved in the community in order to increase participation.
West Wave Swim School is one of the largest in New Zealand boasting 3000 members and ongoing partnerships with key Waitakere community organisations including local köhanga reo, Violence Free Waitakere, Early Childhood Education Waitakere, Plunket and Safekids.
The school provides classes for a wide range of ages and abilities from babies to adults with disabilities.
“This award recognises the hard work and commitment of my team who provide the best service and classes to teach the community a life skill,” says West Wave Swim School supervisor Sarah Clarke.
