Brancott Estate Appointed Rugby World Cup 2011 Official Sponsor

Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) today announced that it has signed the first New Zealand based Official Sponsor, Pernod Ricard, who will be promoting New Zealand’s premium wine brand, Brancott Estate as an Official Sponsor of Rugby World Cup 2011.

In celebration of Brancott Estate’s bold, pioneering spirit, New Zealand wine industry leader Pernod Ricard New Zealand, alongside RWCL, is proud to announce the partnership.

Pernod Ricard New Zealand Managing Director, Fabian Partigliani says this is a key sponsorship for the recently launched Brancott Estate - a strategic wine brand in Pernod Ricard’s global portfolio.

“Brancott Estate, named in honour of the Brancott Vineyard where Montana first pioneered New Zealand’s flagship varietal Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, is to become the new name for the internationally successful Montana brand globally. Our sponsorship of Rugby World Cup 2011 provides the perfect platform to help drive immediate global awareness of Brancott Estate as a leading New Zealand wine brand, particularly in key export markets such as the UK, Asia and Australia, and, of course, our home market in New Zealand.”

“We are extremely proud to be the first New Zealand based brand to support and commit to such a significant event to be held on home soil and this global investment will ensure our New Zealand wines continue to stand out on the world stage. The name change from Montana to Brancott Estate will be rolled out globally from September 2010 to coincide with the impressive 2010 vintage.”

The Tournament will be broadcast to more than 475 million homes including New Zealand, Australia and Asia Pacific. It's expected to reach a worldwide audience of at least four billion and will make a significant contribution to the local economy.

Rugby World Cup Limited Chairman Bernard Lapasset said "We are delighted to be welcoming Brancott Estate as an Official Sponsor of Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand.”

“The recently renamed Brancott Estate is a leading New Zealand wine brand and the commitment from this global brand gives a significant boost to a tournament which continues to attract major multi-nationals to a strong portfolio of Worldwide Partners, Sponsors and Suppliers.”

"We look forward to working with Brancott Estate to further the promotion of the Game as the global Rugby community looks ahead to Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand and a tournament that looks set to write another memorable chapter in the Rugby World Cup success story.”

Rugby World Cup is a perfect fit for Brancott Estate, whose brand values are closely aligned to those of Rugby’s showcase tournament.

Already, fans from over 100 countries have applied for tickets and the Tournament is expected to attract 70,000 international visitors, with a significant proportion of these travelling from Asia Pacific.

Teams representing 20 nations will compete in 48 matches across several host cities during September and October, with the final match being held at Auckland's historic Eden Park, on 23 October, 2011.
