CPIT fashion students make their Début
Christchurch is in for a stylish treat next month as CPIT’s School of Fashion Technology & Design students showcase their creations in Début – one of the city’s premier fashion events.
To be held on Saturday, June 26 at the Aurora Centre, Début marks the beginning of CPIT’s fashion festivities for 2010, and will be the first time the school’s third-year fashion students present their designs to the public.
Début signals the end of each student’s work-placement under the guidance of one of New Zealand’s top designers. This year, 12 students were given the opportunity to experience placements with Karen Walker, MisteR, Sakaguchi, Adrian Hailwood, Kate Sylvester, Sera Lilly, Huffer, Duncan & Prudence, Lonely Hearts, Nyne, The Suit Doctor and Dual. For the Début show, each designer has given their student a brief to create a collection, and it is these designs that will be on display.
“Début gives our students the opportunity to experience what it means to be involved in a real-life runway show,” says Niki Chrisp, CPIT’s programme leader for the School of Fashion Technology and Design.
Début will be held at 7.30pm at
the Aurora Centre (Burnside High School) on Saturday, June
26. Tickets are on sale at Where the Fox Lives, 141 High
Street (opposite the CPIT Jazz
School).
