Operatunity fosters
flag-flying feasts of fun
Royalists and
republicans are given the “operatunity” to rejoice in a
rowdy rendition of “The Last Night of the Proms” this
month.
The concert features an experienced cast of well-known Operatunity performers including Geoffrey Hughes, Susan Boland, Lynette Martin, Stuart Coats, and Paul Chappory.
Company director and cast member Geoffrey Hughes encourages audiences to bring their flag of choice, dress-up, paint their faces, and sing along.
“This concert will be a flag-flying feast of fantastic fun and frivolity, sure to be a favourite among the fabulous fans of Operatunity,” he says.
Included in the song-list is well-known repertoire like Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Land of Hope and Glory, Auld Lang Syne, and Rose Softly Blooming in amongst a quintessential display of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Potted Pirates.
The “Proms” season presented in July - August is part of Operatunity’s series of daytime concerts which tour the country eight times each year.
With concerts starting at 11am, audiences are given the opportunity to interact with the artists by sharing lunch with them after the show.
Tickets, just $27 including lunch, are available online at www.operatunity.co.nz or by calling toll free on 0508 266 237. Discounts are available for groups, but seats fill up fast so bookings are essential, limited door sales available also. Tickets are sold only through Operatunity, so no booking or postage fees apply.
After being crowned Top Group at the 2009 Variety Artist Club awards, Operatunity’s 2010 tours are energizing audiences from Whangarei to Invercargill.
Come along and join the fun!
