MATARIKI - Celebrating a unique place in the world
MATARIKI - Celebrating our unique
place in the world
July 10 - August 1
We give respect to the whenua on which we live and admiration to our mother earth, Papatuanuku. Throughout Matariki we learn about those who came before us, our history, our family, our bones. Matariki signals the time of growth, its a time of change, a time to prepare and a time of action. During Matariki we acknowledge what we have and what we have to give. Matariki celebrates the diversity of life, culture, language, spirit and people.
The Academy will be celebrating all of these things with this open exhibition featuring the selected works of artists from around the country and invited guest artists Melissa Young and our own Sue Lund.
Exhibition dates: Saturday 10th
July to Sunday 1st August
Academy Galleries are open
daily 10am - 5pm. Entry is free.
