Mini Takes to the Skies Over Auckland

Mini Takes to the Skies Over Auckland
Flying Mini Signals Opening of New Store

Not since the days of the legendary chase scenes in the classic Kiwi film ‘Goodbye Pork Pie’ has a MINI flown to such heights – until today.

To celebrate the opening of New Zealand’s first ever MINI Garage, a brand new MINI is being flown around the Auckland CBD and harbour environment this afternoon from 4pm.

“MINI is an innovative, boundary pushing brand full of youthful exuberance and this is one of the most dramatic ways we can let people know MINI is up to something new,” said the Managing Director of BMW Group New Zealand, Mark Gilbert.

“This is a big day in the history of MINI in New Zealand, as it signals the start of an exciting and innovative way to do business.”

The new MINI Garage store at 130 Ponsonby Rd is just one of four ways people can now purchase a new MINI, the others being online at www.MINI.co.nz, by calling 0800-BE MINI or via a MINI mobile agent.

“The new home of MINI in Ponsonby is the perfect location for the brand, given the vibrant, socially progressive and fun-loving nature of people in the area,” said Mr Gilbert.

“This new four-channel retail strategy is quite literally the ideal way to take MINI to the people.”

The flying MINI will be the guest of honour at tonight’s grand opening launch party at MINI Garage, a location which will also feature a café, art installations and various local events.
