Auckland Philharmonia Opens Doors For A Day
The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra opens its doors for the day this Sunday for an inside glimpse into the workings of one of the largest arts organisations in the country.
The APO Open Day at Auckland Town Hall on Sunday 18 July includes backstage tours, music demonstrations, exhibits, recitals from Auckland school orchestras and excerpts from Pictures at an Exhibition – performed by the APO and conducted by the orchestra’s music director Eckehard Stier.
There are also family-friendly activities including the music zoo, instrument making and kids’ colouring areas.
Last year thousands of people – from curious first-timers to concert enthusiasts – came along to the APO’s inaugural open day in the city and the orchestra has since held an open day on the North Shore and has another planned for Manukau in October.
“We’re very pleased to offer all Aucklanders the opportunity to hear and experience the APO up close,” says APO Chief Executive Barbara Glaser.
The APO Open Day is on Sunday 18 July from 1pm-4pm at Auckland Town Hall, THE EDGE and entry is free. For more information visit www.apo.co.nz
