Breaking the Surface is a ceremonial call to arms, written by Susana Lei'ataua and composed by Gareth Farr. The performance weaves together ancient rhythms, sacred chants, and modern-day mythology in a recital that will capture your imagination. Breaking the Surface was developed from poems Susana had previously written. In 2007, she collaborated with Gareth, and together they have composed the music. Susana has performed Breaking the Surface many times in New York and Washington. The two performances at Te Papa will be the first public viewing in New Zealand. Wake up – it's time!
