Singing duo takes stage for Save the Children

Popular Wanganui singing duo Royal Lightz will be taking the stage at Majestic Square on Thursday 26 August 2010 to raise funds for Save the Children Foundation.

Royal Lightz was created out of the idea of helping community services in Wanganui through either doing community work or planning fund raising events such as concerts or the next step, Wanganui’s Got Talent is a fundraising initiative for the Wanganui City Mission.

Royal Lightz have been together since early 2009 and have had some local success within Wanganui and consists of, Star of the Sevens for 2009, Daniel Harding who has had both local and national success with his singing and has been seen on the international screen. Daniel auditioned and made it to the top 3 of the lower north island region in last year’s Big Night In Telethon a New Zealand Idol type singing competition called, The Big Audition and Tj Timms who also auditioned for the Big Audition and was placed in the top 25 of the countries best.

Opening the show will be a new comedian duo, Drop Out Comedy – they credit their name to both dropping out of school. A long side Royal Lightz they will have other singing guest artists, Helena Taniwha from a local band in Wanganui, Young-E a local hip/hop artist and Kaalyn Taniwha a solo covers artist and sister to Helena.

At the event will be local mayoral candidate Jevan Goulter and council candidate Chandra Osborne, who will be there campaigning for the 2010 local election. As of Friday 20 August 2010 Jevan holds the title for the youngest ever mayoral candidate in New Zealand history.

Donation buckets will be at the venue where the public will be able to give donations to the Save the Children Foundation.

The concert starts at 12pm sharp and will finish around two o’clock.
