Pop Up gallery - Artists in public shows

Pop Up gallery - Artists in public shows
We're pleased to announce that we have opened a Pop Up gallery at 108 Oriental Parade, opposite Martin Bosley's Restaurant and next to Vista Café. Open most days and by appointment the Pop Up gallery will allow us to supplement shows on at our Newtown gallery and host projects that we wouldn't ordinarily be able to host.

We've set up a Pop Up page to keep visitors up-to-date with what's on show at the Pop Up gallery. The first works on show are six paintings by Geoffrey Notman. Exhibitions will change fortnightly with the next few including works by Michael Smither, Fiona Pardington and Bill Hammond. Please stop off and visit on your next drive or stroll around the Parade.

Several of our artists have works on show in public galleries. Roger Boyce's series of 100 paintings titled The Illustrated History of Painting is on show at the Christchurch Art Gallery. Roger Boyce and Marie-Claire Brehaut's Nature Morte can be viewed at the Blue Oyster Gallery in Dunedin. Works by Ans Westra and Fiona Pardington are included in the current exhibition, KIN, at the National Portrait Gallery in Wellington.

A work by Richard Reddaway is included in El Barroco Loco / the Local Baroque at the Engine Room, Massey University in Wellington. Last but not least Neil Pardington has works in Contemporary Traditions: Dunedin and Otaru Celebrate 30 Years at the Otago Museum, Dunedin.

Finishing this Saturday at our Newtown gallery is Wayne Youle's exhibition It's The Simple Things. Temporarily back in Wellington during the Rita Angus Residency, Youle's paintings in this show represent a two dimensional synopsis of recent concepts executed by the artist as sculptural or mixed media artworks.
Our next exhibition in Newtown, Capture, opens on Friday 3 September and features works by bronze sculptor Jonathan Campbell and photographer Ans Westra. We look forward to hosting the Friends of Te Papa during this exhibition.
Roll on spring and summer!
