New Zealand’s number one Craft & Quilt Fair is happening this weekend, so get ready to be inspired and bedazzled by all the homemade goodies you will find under the one roof!
DIY crafting has seen a popular resurgence in recent years. Women of all ages, from all walks of life have taken up sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting as a way of expressing creativity and individuality.
New Zealand’s Craft & Quilt Fair will run from 9th-12th September from 9.30am -4.30pm at Claudelands Event Centre in Hamilton and there is something for everyone!
Top Five Reasons to visit New
Zealand’s Craft & Quilt Fair:
• Stitch ‘n’
Bitch – The innovative fashion concept, Stitch ‘n’
Bitch, developed by New Zealand’s own entrepreneur and
fashion designer, Annah Stretton, will be on display
and demonstrated through workshops at the fair. This unique
range takes two things women do best: sewing and
socialising, encouraging women to enjoy a good old-fashioned
gossip session while they put together gorgeous garments.
The DIY garment kit features fabric, trims, easy-to-follow
instructions and detailed coloured photos.
• Over 50 exhibitors from across New Zealand and Australia will be showcasing their unique craft supplies. Visitors will be able to purchase from thousands of new and exciting products catering for all their craft needs - true 'craft heaven' as you won't see some of these products anywhere else!
• Stunning Quilt Exhibitions - Made in New Zealand is a stunning exhibition of quilts with a quintessentially New Zealand flavour. Anne Scott is curator of this exhibition, which presents New Zealand’s unique skill and style in quilting to the world.
• Textile Tantrums – Western Australia’s Dale Rollerson, owner of The Thread Studio, will be demonstrating innovative mixed media textile art techniques using fibres, fabric, paper and sprays and an exhibition of her latest challenge entered by 70 participants from all over the world. Dale challenged entrants to throw some ‘tantrums’ with fabric using holes, tears, rips, frayed edges and not a seam finish in sight. This is an exhibition with attitude!
• Interactive Workshops - Craft Circle has a range of craft activities for enthusiasts to develop their skills and get expert advice. Try jewellery making, embroidery, beading, card making, Tunisian crochet and much more!
The fair is all about celebrating craft –
making your own homewares, clothing, jewellery, cards,
stationery, quilts and artworks to reinvent your house, or
as gifts to friends. It is not only a must-see for craft
enthusiasts but also anyone who is keen to indulge in some
creative flair!
