Life may be settling down after the catastrophic earthquakes that have been shaking Christchurch, however for organisers of the forthcoming Women’s Lifestyle Expo they provided an unexpected shake-up for their event on the weekend of the 25th and 26th of September.
“About one third of our exhibitors were quite severely hit by the quake and the subsequent slowing down of business,” says Rob Woodhouse, Managing Director of Peacock Promotions, who facilitate the Expo.
At one stage they were going to cancel, says Mr Woodhouse. However, the message from the majority of exhibitors and general feedback from people in Christchurch was to go ahead with the Expo.
“We see it as a way for people to get away from what they’ve been going through, and to indulge for a few hours. And because it has been a tight time financially for many people affected by the earthquake, we are going to drop our door charge and make it free admission for everyone.”
Mr Woodhouse expects the “free offer” will cost his company around $100,000.
“Women’s Lifestyle Expo is a part of the Christchurch calendar, so it is important for us to be there this year, just as we will be next year.”
Women’s Lifestyle Expo is being held at the Canterbury Savings Bank Arena at Addington on the weekend of September 25 and 26. The Expo runs each day between 10am and 5pm. And admission to this year‘s event is free.
