Blind Week 2010 is coming up

Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind

Media release

15 September 2010

Blind Week 2010 is coming up after 120 years in the making

If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to save the date for Blind Week 2010.

Running from Tuesday 26 October to Monday 1 November, this year Blind Week is an extra special occasion as the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind (RNZFB) is celebrating 120 years of service to blind and partially sighted New Zealanders!

Blind Week not only promotes awareness of the blindness and sight loss cause, it also raises much needed donations to support the full range of services that we provide – so we can continue providing these vital services for the next 120 years.

Sandra Budd, RNZFB Chief Executive, believes the Foundation is part of the fabric of New Zealand: “When our story began in 1890 life for blind and partially sighted New Zealanders was very different. We’ve grown and evolved over the years as New Zealand has grown and evolved, and we’ve shared many milestones. Today we provide a wonderful range of sight loss habilitation and rehabilitation services which help our blind, deafblind and partially sighted members live life to the full. Please help us continue providing these essential services in the future by giving generously”.

To volunteer as a collector for the street appeal please call free on 0800 120 BLIND (0800 120 254) or visit www.blindweek.org.nz to register. To make an automatic donation of $20 call now on 0900 4 BLIND (0900 425 463)
