SPCA Hot Rod Open Day

If you have a passion for cars as well as furry animals, you’re in luck. The SPCA Auckland Annual Custom Rod Open Day is being held on Sunday 26th September 2010.
Last year the event attracted 135 custom rod cars from around the region, and this year the organisers Renegade Rod & Custom Club are expecting over 150 cars that will be parked at the Auckland SPCA Village in Mangere.
It’s a day for classic car enthusiasts and animal lovers alike to wander around the cars, visit the animals, take a ride in a Hot Rod, enjoy the food stalls and live music, and mix and mingle with TV stars from such shows as Go Girls, Outrageous Fortune and Shortland Street.
There’s also a major auction to participate in with prizes ranging from a cat scratcher, through to a barbecue, car sub speakers, and a helicopter ride. This year’s event is proudly sponsored by Trueform Spa Pools in Helensville, who have kindly provided the major auction prize: a portable spa pool valued at over $6,000 with a lockable lid and and free delivery within Auckland.
Gates open at 10am and the event runs until 3.30pm. The auction is at 12 noon, the proceeds from which will go to the SPCA Inspectorate and keeping the Inspectors on the road.
This is a fantastic event for the family to enjoy together – dogs are also welcome – and a great opportunity to visit the animals at the SPCA.
