Style Pasifika
Snapped up for Rugby World Cup Event
Rugby meets the world of fashion, music, technology and dance in two incredible nights of distinctly New Zealand entertainment. Style Pasifika – Best of Pasifika New Zealand has been selected as a key event for the Real New Zealand Festival, a nationwide celebration of all the things we love most about New Zealand.
For two exclusive evenings in the week of the Rugby World Cup final, musicians, dancers, cultural entertainers, artists, filmmakers and designers will come together to showcase the best of New Zealand and Pacific innovation and creativity.
Exploring Pacific-related themes including the journey of migration, warriors in a new land and global influence, Style Pasifika – Best of Pasifika New Zealand has been designed to appeal to both a national and international audience, highlighting our unique characteristics and the importance of our connection to the South Pacific.
“We want to showcase New Zealand’s creative talents,” says Stan Wolfgramm, Director of Style Pasifika. “The Best of Pasifika New Zealand is the story of our nation – told through cultural, traditional and contemporary elements. There’ll be singers, dancers, cultural performers and great New Zealanders all contributing to an entertainment spectacular.
“Think artists painting to music - their evolving work projected on big screens while being interpreted by dancers. Imagine our nation’s best designers creating fashion collections that encapsulate New Zealand style. We’ll look back on the past 18 years of Style Pasifika. We’ll recognise great moments in New Zealand history. This will be an event that will not only strike a chord with Kiwis but will catapult our unique culture onto the world stage.”
Style Pasifika – the Best of Pasifika New Zealand will be held at Vector Arena - 17 & 18 October 2011.
