Free family fun with NZSO at Te
Papa
Pint-sized knights and princesses will be dancing in the aisles when the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra puts on a free day of musical family entertainment at Te Papa on Sunday.
The NZSO Family Fun Day offers under-twelves the chance to learn about each of the instruments that make up an orchestra.
The day begins at 10.30am when the “NZSO in Miniature” ensemble offers little ones plenty of fun and giggles, performing everything from The Simpsons theme to YMCA.
From noon they perform the much-loved children’s classic Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev, conducted by Luke Dollman.
At 2pm, children will experience “Daring Deeds and Fantastic Adventures” - a concert of symphonic music inspired by myths and fairy stories.
Narrated by Nigel Collins of Flight of the Conchords fame, this is a day of musical excitement and learning in disguise!
This event is supported by The
Community Trust of Wellington.
