The Dancing Years: A Toe-Tapping Treat!

MEDIA RELEASE – September 28, 2010

A Toe-Tapping Treat!

Talented touring group Operatunity are set to sing up a storm, setting toes tapping across the country with their latest concert, The Dancing Years.

The award-winning group will present fabulous dancing music from the 20s and 30s; the elegant era of Novello, Porter, Gatsby, and Flapper along with popular fun music as well.

Two casts will be touring in this concert with John Cameron, Devin Ashton, Lynette Martin and much-loved Tessa-May Brown accompanied by pianist Alex Wiltshire in the South Island and North Island venues, and Geoffrey Hughes, Terry Barry, Cameron Barclay and Emma Roxburgh accompanied by pianist Rosemary Barnes in the Auckland venues, including Tauranga, Whangarei and Hamilton. Both these casts bring a combination of talented performers comprised of fans’ favourites and fresh new talent.

Operatunity director Geoffrey Hughes says this cast will bring “mellifluous melodic music of this magically marvellous era to life with some serious toe tapping fun comprising of romantic, melodious and tongue-in-cheek songs”.

Included in the repertoire are such great numbers as “happy days are here again”, “we’ll gather lilacs”, “don’t put your daughter on the stage Mrs Worthington” and “you made me love you” amongst many others.

The Dancing Years tour commencing in October is part of Operatunity’s series of daytime concerts touring nationally to 23 venues, eight times a year.
