Calling all canine marketgoers…
This coming Saturday 9 October is St Francis Day and the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul in Thorndon is celebrating the role of companion animals in our lives which a special church service at 11am. Churchgoers can bring their four (or two) legged friends along to enjoy the service.
Hill St Farmers’ Market, which is held in the Cathedral carpark, is also joining the fun this Saturday and celebrating their four legged market regulars with a Best Market Dog Competition. The competition will begin at 10am and will include categories such as Waggiest Tale, Belle or Beau of the market, Best Dressed Dog and Best Trick. No registration is required for this light-hearted doggy celebration… just turn up on the day with your dog!
Dogowners will also be able to buy their dogs delicious gourmet doggie treats at the new Doggie Delights stall at the market this Saturday. Pamela from Doggie Delights makes homebake gourmet and organic doggie treats all dogs will love. And once the dogs are satisfied, their owners can pick up new seasons Horowhenua asparagus from Blush Asparagus, delicious organic greens from Te Manaia and Wairarapa Eco Farm, spray free fruit from The Apple Quarters and enjoy a fresh pastry from Simply Paris with their morning coffee from Franca e Franca.
Hill St Farmers Market is a dog friendly market and welcomes four legged friends provided they are on a lead and well behaved. The Market is on, rain or shine, in the carpark of the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul on Hill St from 9am-1pm every Saturday.
