Best-selling international baby care author Pinky McKay arrives in New Zealand this month to promote breastfeeding and gentle parenting.
Pinky, who grew up in Te Puke, will deliver the keynote address at La Leche League’s (LLLNZ's) national conference in Wellington on October 9.
The author of five books including 100 Ways to
Calm the Crying and Toddler Tactics, Pinky McKay is a

as “the baby calmer”.
Pinky runs a busy private
practice from her home in Melbourne solving breastfeeding
and infant sleep/settling problems. She is also a lactation
consultant, infant massage instructor, mum to five children
and “NanaPinky” to two small grandchildren.
“Pinky is such a breath of fresh air – we’re delighted she’s managed to fit us into her busy schedule,” said LLLNZ spokesperson Lisa Manning. “Pinky started her career as a La Leche League Leader in the Waikato, so it’s marvellous to welcome her home!” Lisa added.
Pinky has appeared on Australian television regularly, is a well known columnist and popular public speaker.
Opening the conference will be respected obstetrician and gynaecologist Alison Barrett. Now based in Canada, Alison worked in New Zealand for 11 years and continues to sit on the LLLNZ Board of Consultants. She is a breastfeeding advocate who is passionate about all aspects of women’s health.
