Horrorween 3 (the now third annual gathering of Christchurch's top metal bands) returns to shake up Canterbury! Featuring a host of talent and for the first time, big screen horror film projections, Horrorween has become a metal festival that grows bigger and better every year. And in 2010 the stage will be stormed by tech metallers Chasm, dark ambient metallers Amidst Haze, thrash artistes Dissolution and Christchurch's longest running (not forgetting, most maniacal) metal band Human.

HUMAN: Human's track record boasts a list of achievements that span nigh on two decades worth of hard work. Hundreds of live performances as well as national and international tours, recordings, videos, live TV appearances, international support slots for Cannibal Corpse, Dragonforce, Suffocation and many more. The band has become one of the most well known names in New Zealand metal circles with an audience that spans not only the north and south islands but around the globe. Their latest album 'Cadaver Academy' has garnered glowing reviews at home and overseas, making it one of the most popular metal releases in New Zealand CD stores at least. Human mark the return of a self imposed break with their headlining slot at Horroween 3 and will perform new songs along with crowd favourites, backed by big screen horror movie visuals and much more.

DISSOLUTION: Dissolution formed in March 06 and they have played regularly in Christchurch, including supports for the likes of Australia’s Lord, and Frankenbok. They have also played a handful of shows in Auckland and Whangarei, including a slot at 2009’s Audience With The Devil. Their songs reflect a love of classic 80's thrash, and are inspired by bands like Kreator, Destruction, Exodus and Death. The dynamic twin-guitar interplay between the two guitarists gives their songs memorable hooks, while melodic interludes provide a refreshing balance to the ferocity of the riffs.

AMIDST HAZE: Amidst Haze are a Christchurch based 3 piece metal band that incorporates contrasting elements from most extreme metal genres, predominantly black and experimental metal. While offering some clean vocals and clean guitars with traditional Celtic folk woven through the songs, lending to the pagan themes, Amidst Haze are creating something of interest for most people.

CHASM: Chasm are an experimental/progressive metal act which started in 2007 as a side project. With a full instrumental line up achieved in early 2009, work began on crafting a live performance that would capture the minds of the audiences by using vast soundscapes and low-tuned, metrically erratic rhythms combined with fast-paced, mechanically grooving drum patterns.

Horrorween 3 is an R18 event. Door sales only. $10 (in Halloween / Horror costume) or $12 general admission. Early entrants will be treated to a FREE shot of Jägermeister on entry (1 per entrant until stock runs out). Doors open at 8pm.
