Watercolour New Zealand is privileged to announce that two reputed Wellington artists, John Rundle and Phil Dickson will be the guest artists at their next major exhibition, Splash 7 at Shed 11.
John Rundle is well known for his New Zealand bush and mountain scene paintings, an area which he has a deep passion for as tramping and search and rescue have been a major part of his life. He was the recipient of the National Bank Watercolour Award, and has illustrated several books. Of significance, this is the 35th anniversary of Watercolour New Zealand and John was a founding member when started in 1975 (then known as the Wellington Watercolour Society).

Phil Dickson's home city of Wellington has provided him with endless inspiration, and he is also particularly well known for his unique depictions of Wellington in both oils and watercolours. As well as painting Wellington as it is today, he has become well known for painting it as it was. His background as cartographer and keen interest in the weather has given him a unique approach to his art and like Constable; cloud studies often play an integral part of his paintings. Phil says any subject is unique. The lighting, weather conditions, time of day, and the season present the subject in the moment of time, like a snap shot.

John and Phil will
join watercolour artists from all over New Zealand and
overseas in the seventh of a very successful ‘Splash’
series of exhibitions which have become a not to be missed
event on the Wellington arts calendar.
Entry to the
exhibition is free and new members are always welcome to
join Watercolour New Zealand whether they are artists or art
lovers.
