New Zealand’s Leading Boutique Hotel
The George Christchurch is delighted to announce that not only has it been voted New Zealand’s Leading Boutique Hotel for the 5th consecutive year, it has also for the very first time been named Australasia’s Leading Boutique Hotel in the prestigious World Travel Awards.
General Manager, Bruce Garrett, was at the awards ceremony, held in Delhi on 14 October 2010, in person to accept the awards on behalf of The George. To his knowledge this is the first time that these two awards have been won by the same property and the first time any property has won the NZ title 5 years consecutively. Bruce Garrett credits this continued recognition to The George’s owners continued investment in the property and by the way that each and every one of the team go about living out the hotel’s mission statement: “A passion to exceed our guests’ expectations by providing a unique, personal and memorable experience”.
Such unwavering commitment of The George to the mission statement is reflected in the experience of its many guests whose feedback in turn influences industry professionals from around the world who vote for category nominees. Competition is stiff in what is considered to be the most prestigious and comprehensive awards program in the Travel and Tourism industry, with well known properties such as Huka Lodge, Medusa Hotel, Sydney, The Lyall Hotel & Spa, Melbourne, and The Spire Queenstown among the contenders for the Boutique Hotel categories.
