Arrival Of GB Rowing Team

The Great Britain team for the 2010 World Rowing Championships arrives in New Zealand on Tuesday.

Who: GB rowing team

When: 0840 Tuesday 19 October (Flight NZ005)

Where: International Terminal, Auckland Airport

Currently the world's leading rowing nation, the team includes five Olympic champions and a further nine Olympic medallists and is described as Britain's strongest ever team.

The eagerly awaited NZ v GB match ups include world champions Eric Murray & Hamish Bond v world silver medallists Andy Triggs Hodge & Pete Reed in the men's pair; world champion Mahe Drysdale v silver medallist Alan Campbell in the men's single scull and world champions Storm Uru & Peter Taylor v Olympic champions Zak Purchase & Mark Hunter in the lightweight double sculls.

The biggest comeback story in the GB team is the selection of 38 year old Greg Searle, gold medallist way back in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, who rows in the GB eight.

The GB women's squad includes three time Olympic silver medallist Katherine Grainger who, with partner Anna Watkins, is favourite for gold in the double sculls.
